What is UKAS?
United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is one of the premier national accreditation bodies in the world. Accreditation is a means of assessing, in the public interest, the technical competence and integrity of organisations offering evaluation services. UKAS provides ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation to organisations. ISO/IEC 17025 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories is the main ISO standard used by laboratories. In most major countries, ISO/IEC 17025 is the standard for which most laboratories must hold accreditation in order to be deemed technically competent.
